Soaps & Scents is a cottage industry soap and skin care company. Only the highest quality ingredients are used to make the soaps and skin care products. All of my soaps contain added enrichment from jojoba oil, and many also contain cocoa butter, mango butter, hemp oil, aloe vera oil, and calendula oils; all are moisturizers and some are known to aid healing. Only 100% pure essential oils are used for scenting. Coloring is created by use of herbs, spices, botanicals, as well as oxides and ultramarine colors. Some of the soaps contain herbs, flowers, grains and seaweed for gentle exfoliation. The natural "glycerin" in handmade soaps is a humectants - which is vital to healthy skin moisture maintenance. Most factory-produced soaps remove the natural glycerin and sell it as a by-product. The glycerin leaves a thin moisture film on your skin surface and allows your skin to breathe without congesting pores. My skin care products all contain unadulterated, 100% pure essential oils. The creams contain only aromatherapy-grade essential oils, which aid in cell rejuvenation, moisturizing and healing. The massage oils and bath oils, as well as the bath salts and lotions, contain aromatherapy-grade essential oils.

Soaps cost more than some commercial soaps and some handmade soaps (not all handmade soaps are alike). You're paying for the best ingredients available. No animal or chemical additives, all vegetable oil-based, biodegradable and ph-balanced products. Only the highest grades of palm kernel, olive and coconut oils are chosen, then blended as a soap base. These oils are "saponified" the chemical conversion of oils into "soap" when mixed with water and sodium hydroxide (lye). No lye remains in the soap after the saponification process.
